Meet Melanie
Melanie Bagby has spent her career getting things done for Sonoma County
As Cloverdale mayor and city councilmember, she led through floods and wildfire evacuations, fought for affordable housing, and helped protect the region's open spaces and natural resources.
Now, she's running to lower costs for working families, stand up to ICE, protect our water, and hold the sheriff's office accountable. The only Democrat in the race, Melanie is endorsed by the Sonoma County Democratic Party, County Supervisors Chris Coursey and Lynda Hopkins, the Sierra Club, and local labor unions.
Melanie will stand up to ICE
Last year, ICE made 20 arrests at the county jail in Santa Rosa, which is double from the year before. Melanie's plan is clear: limit local cooperation with ICE and no transfers without a judge's order. She backs the civilian oversight of the Sheriff's Office that 65 percent of county voters approved.
Melanie helped deliver homes for the people who work here
On the Cloverdale City Council, Melanie helped deliver new apartments on South Cloverdale Boulevard, providing homes for our nurses, health care providers, hospice care providers, police officers and firefighters. Now, as vice chair of the SMART board, she's working with Congressman Jared Huffman to bring the train farther north.
